This just arrived today. As soon as I saw it on the website, I snapped it up in this beautiful color, which is dark enough to use as a neutral. I had the smaller iteration of this bag but it just wasn’t functional enough for me. So, here are some pros and cons of this larger size:
Pros:
-Stunning color! I love any color in the berry family and this is just such a rich saturated deep blue purple, as the name indicates.
-The larger capacity is welcome! Room for two sets of keys, phone (14 pro max) wallet, lipstick, and everything you’d need for a day of traveling light in the baggage department.
-The magnetic snap closure is a definite upgrade as I had some difficulty snapping the closure on the original because the bag was usually overstuffed and the snap not magnetic. This required multiple attempts to secure the snap, usually having to use both hands to do so.
-The workmanship is exceptional. I’ve uploaded a few photos of the bag with details of stitching, taping, etc. Nothing new to add about this except that every bag I’ve purchased from this brand has been of rock solid quality.
-The two straps give distinct looks. This is a generous way the maker gives the buyer the ability to expand the use of the bag to coordinate with different outfits, looks, etc. The gold hardware is very upscale and makes for an elegant presentation.
The Cons:
-The only con I can come up with is the small back outside slip pocket. I think the bag would have been so much more versatile if there were just a single slip pocket on the outside back of the bag that was the same size as the actual bag. Possibly shorter but the same width so slipping a phone in the back would make for easier access. Even though this little pocket is an upgrade from the previous version, I still think it’s not a very functional addition to the bag. I can fit my key case in there, but it does put some tension on the leather, which will eventually stretch out. A slip pocket of the same basic dimensions as the bag would be perfect to slip a phone into and keep it separate from the main compartment. It wouldn’t alter the look of the bag, which would still be compact and streamlined, but make it more functional and useful.
Overall, highly recommend adding this to your bag wardrobe for the days you don’t want to carry a full size bag or for those out there that are more minimalistic in their approach to handbags. You can’t beat the quality, and if only that back pocket were more functional it would be a five star bag for me. It may be five stars for you as this really comes down to personal preference.
